. >> water rushing down a sandy hill covering the streets in a sea of brown mud. there was no rain today. this was all because of a water main break. it happened at around 4:30 this morning near looseain avenue, that is east of 280 near hillside park. cbs 5 reporter joe vasquez is in the neighborhood where people are still digging out of the mess tonight. joe? >> reporter: hi, dana. the mudslide came straight down this hill and as you can see, it virtually missed this entire neighborhood here. cars were the only casualties. >> it really sounded like a rushing river. >> reporter: when neighbors first heard it, they thought it might have been a rain storm and then they stepped outside and gawked. >> when you saw this rushing mudslide, what went through your mind? >> like oh, my gosh, god, please help us. >> reporter: it wasn't an act of god, it was an 8-inch pipeline that burst, blowing out a daly city hillside sending 45,000 gallons of water down a hill creating a massive mud fall that consumed a dozen cars along the avenue. the owners could only watch as the cars
